Rachel Thornton in 6th year recently came 2nd in a very prestigious creative writing competition held by Trinity College Dublin which included entries from all over the world from primary school right up to adult categories. Rachel made a fantastic impression in the secondary category with her moving and visceral poem based on the serpent depicted in the Book of Kells, giving her own hugely thought-provoking interpretation. The awards ceremony took place in Trinity College where Rachel was presented with her prize by renowned Trinity graduate and RTE personality Sharon Ni Bheolain, amid support from family, friends and teachers. Her work is available to read from Rachel herself or from CA3. Outstanding work Rachel.
